My name is Luzmary Nunez, but no one ever actually calls me that— everyone calls me “Loop”. In a vcr tape of my baby shower, my grandpa randomly mentions “I’m going to call her Lupi”. Eventually it caught on by my classmates and got shortened down to loop over the years, probably cause it’s cool to say less syllables. 

    Even before preschool, I had this weird fixation with blank white paper. Any chance I had to get my hands on blank material such as printer paper, sketchbook paper, or even the insides of hard cover books, I drew something with such grandeur simply because it was once an empty canvas. Growing up it became second nature. Everyone would watch over my shoulder and say the same old thing, “you should be a tattoo artist!”. School didn’t really teach me anything but how to add letters into math, and the chemical components of milk... and once I realized I would never make it through college, my life just kind of starting going by... day by day. I was working job after job, hating each and every one of them in their own special kind of way. 

When the pandemic came around in 2019 the whole world stopped and I wasn’t stuck in the routine of waking up and going to work anymore. For the first time, I felt a sense of clarity and realized I couldn’t continue living my life like society’s corporate lab rat anymore. Eventually I returned back to work though, but this time I felt determined to not let my potential go to waste.
